People always tend to forget that a blog is the owner's own ranting ground. Regarding the topic which was widely commented on today, I shall post. Take this scenario: You're a teacher who happened to be taking a look at your students' blogs, which is perfectly fine. You just so happen to see that Student A posted nasty stuff about you. The most common reaction would be "What? It's his/her fault. She brought herself to ______" blah & blah. And whatever the teacher thinks, what's in their minds will always be the themselves blaming the students. They did not even think why the students posted those stuff. Or maybe they did. But it is human nature to protect oneself when being provoked or commented on, isn't it? A lot of us will say, why can adults gossip about children & not vice versa? In this case, teachers & students. Exactly, what is the thing that is causing this to happen? Our age. Have you ever thought that this invisible, unchangeable thing is causing us to suffer by letting students to express ourselves, or what Wei Liang has said, our freedom of speech? From what I know, teachers will always say that we cannot criticise them because they are our elders & it is basic courtesy to respect them. If we are talking about respect here, hello people, we are humans too, we have our rights, our dignity, everything you adults have. So why can you guys gossip about us, yet we can't gossip about you? Like what Sharmain has pointed out, as teenagers, we don't think before we do or say & that causes most of us to turn rebellious. We gossip, we backstab, we curse. All of these is just a natural part & parcel of growing up. Don't tell me that when you teachers were teenagers, you didn't gossip with your group of friends about teachers behind their backs. 'Cause I know you did, you all did. & because you all did, you yourself know perfectly well that it is just the process of teenagers growing up. We know you want us to stay on the right track. But do you think this is the way to do so? In case you didn't know, this is already the 21st century. Forcing us to stop doing whatever we're doing won't help. It just makes us worse. -Audrey |
